DOBLAJE

In Spain, most non-Spanish-language movies and TV series are dubbed instead of having subtitles. Many say this is for historical or political reasons, as it allowed the state censor during the Franco era to have a large degree of control over the dialogue content. As a result of this, today there are many highly professional dubbing actors and actresses, but on the other hand the Spanish public have had little exposure to the sound of other languages on TV and at the movies. Only a small minority of Spanish people go to movie houses where movies are shown in their original language. Dubbing is also widely used in Latin America, but the dubbing is usually done in California.
